Nonprofit organizations are typically tasked with doing a lot of work with little or no resources. Communicating effectively with your audience and stakeholders will impact your organization’s programs and strategic initiatives. This workshop will apply Project Management Skills to develop an effective communications plan and uncover the key elements of the plan. The workshop will also include: strategic measurement, alignment, and information architecture. We will discuss effective communications planning and develop a communication plan. After attending this session, you should walk away with a thorough understanding of communication planning and a draft communications plan.

Speakers:

Kendall Lott, CEO and President, M Powered Stretegies, Inc

With over 20 years of experience in the federal government and as a consultant, Kendall Lott is the CEO/President of M Powered Strategies, Inc, a change management consulting firm in Washington DC that supports organizations within the U.S. Government. His professional background includes government service at the Departments of Agriculture and Justice, as well as service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Federated States of Micronesia. A certified PMP, and a Gallup certified StrengthsFinder Coach, he has served as a volunteer with PMIWDC for over a decade, and was an active member of the board for 8 years. His volunteer roles include executive management as he has been the COO and CEO of PMIWDC, and the Executive Director of the Project Management Day of Service. Most recently, he has been the creator and host of the PM Point of View Podcast®.

 

David Hattaway, Senior Consultant, M Powered Strategies

Davin Hattaway, CAE is a senior consultant with M Powered Strategies, with 15 years of professional experience in management of 45 domestic and international nonprofit organizations. His professional passion is helping nonprofits combine market engagement, enterprise systems design, and governance best-practices into solutions that help nonprofits make their work more effective. Prior to joining M Powered Strategies, Davin served as Chief Operations Officer of Potomac Management Resources (PMR), Virginia based nonprofit consulting firm that supports 19 regional and national associations. Under his leadership, PMR became the #1-ranked event planning firm in the DC area by 2015, as ranked by the Washington Business Journal, and the only nonprofit management consulting firm to be ranked in the top 20. Prior to PMR, Davin served as a development consultant to nonprofit agricultural cooperatives in Cape Verde, West Africa, where he was the founding executive officer for a nonprofit trade school, established a rural dry goods cooperative, and served as the primary liaison between local nonprofit organizations and national/international development organizations.
