The mission of the English Empowerment Center is to teach adults the basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English so they can access employment and education opportunities and more fully and equitably participate in the community.

To lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.

ECDC's mission is to resettle refugees, promote cultural, educational, and socioeconomic development in the refugee and immigrant community in the United States. To pursue this mission, ECDC provides services that help newcomers become productive members of their new communities, fosters understanding among newcomers and the wider community, increase public awareness about refugee issues, and promotes civic participation by newcomers in the decision-making process at all levels.

Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS) organizes people to become champions of action in their communities, encouraging moral climate policies and affecting change. FACS catalyzes climate change mitigation, adaptation and resiliency strategies at the local level through the collective impact of faith communities and people who share our vision of caring for creation. We pursue climate action through advocacy, capacity-building, knowledge-sharing and leadership opportunities.

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) is the only independent, nonprofit 501c3 organization devoted solely to providing emergency financial assistance and scholarships to our dedicated civilian federal and postal public servants and their families. FEEA also has a for-profit subsidiary, FEEA Childcare Services, which administers childcare subsidy programs on behalf of a number of federal agencies.

Field To Table, Inc. provides healthy fresh foods to residents of Arlington County and surrounding areas in Northern Virginia. The nonprofit pursues its social welfare mission of building community infrastructure by establishing and managing locally based farmers markets. We provide guidance to local residents on the virtues of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables as opposed to highly processed foods, thus improving family health as well as enhancing community identity.

We aim to inspire young minds through exploration, education, and growing opportunities for all youth.

Our mission is to distribute free food to our neighbors in need, in partnership with our Northern Virginia community, and to provide opportunities for people to volunteer their resources. Local merchants, the USDA, food drives, and crop harvests provide the food; volunteers and staff provide the hands; and charitable contributions and fundraising events provide the funds. In FY 2016, Food for Others distributed over 2.2 million pounds of free food with a donation value of $3,340,000.

FLOC tutors low-income students in grades 2nd-12th in the Washington, D.C. area to achieve grade-level competency in reading and math through one-on-one attention and a structured, step-by-step curriculum. We also provide mentoring and coaching to students in grades 8th-12th through PSAT/SAT Prep, College Readiness, and Project Based Learning programs to ensure they are prepared to transition out of high school into higher education.

The Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens connects people to the park through volunteer service, education, and recreation. This unique park, only a few miles from the Nation's Capitol, reveals the only remaining tidal marsh in Washington, D.C., natural riparian environments along the Anacostia, and breathtaking historic water lily and lotus in ponds. We encourage public discovery of the park through community events, volunteer activities, and educational programs for youth.

Our mission is to enable a strong, vibrant, engaged community using our libraries as a place to read, learn, work, create, congregate, and share ideas.

Arlington’s public library system is an incredible resource for increasing literacy and strengthening our community.

We strive to enhance its capabilities by providing support for collections, events, and programs.

Since the inception of the Friends of the Kennedy Center volunteer program in 1965, and now into the 21st century, volunteers continue to provide invaluable service to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts—eleven hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the year. Friends serve as tour guides, assist in the gift shops, provide information at the Visitors Center, and so much more.
