Partner Spotlight: CIS NOVA

We believe that when the needs of children are met, they can be free to learn and teachers can be free to teach.

We believe ALL kids can succeed. We NEVER give up on kids, and we do not allow them to give up on themselves.

Communities In Schools is national nonprofit agency whose mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. The organization's goal is to ensure that every child graduates from high school, and they work towards that goal by connecting students to support services, enrichment activities, and community resources to assist them in overcoming obstacles that are getting in the way of academic success. CIS NOVA partners with Arlington Public Schools and Alexandria City Public Schools to provide over 4000 students with supports on an annual basis, and case manage over 250 students with individualized services on an annual basis.

CIS NOVA establishes relationships with Superintendents, Principals, Educators and Community Partners to address both individual student as well as school-wide needs.

They combine the art of one-on-one relationships with the science of proven, evidence-based programs, and mobilize community resources and proven programs to achieve results and remove barriers that keep students from succeeding in school and life.

CIS NOVA's evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community’s unique needs, is the basis for their success. Many children face challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Through a school-based site coordinator, Communities In Schools strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning.
