Transform lives with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia!

The impact of a Girls on the Run volunteer coach is as boundless as it is beautiful. Girls on the Run programs empower, increase self-worth and spark joy, and this is in large part thanks to our amazing coaches.  We welcome and encourage high school age volunteers (ages 16-18) to register as a junior coach.

So lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of participants to be strong, confident, and healthy! Girls on the Run is a youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade that creatively integrates running. Teams of volunteer coaches are trained to facilitate our easy-to-follow curriculum with small groups of participants twice a week over the course of a 10 week season.

You don't need to be a runner or a competitive athlete to coach!  Successful coaches only need to serve as role models for girls by showing up prepared and on time, by listening attentively, and by demonstrating a positive attitude! GOTR NOVA encourages applications from minorities, the disabled, bilingual speaking individuals and all other qualified applicants.

Coaches are required to commit to 2-3 hours per week for the 10-week season, with a few additional hours required for Coach Training and the GOTR NOVA season ending 5K celebration. Practice schedules will vary based on team.

GOTR’s Fall 2023 Season starts the week of September 11th and ends on November 20th.
